What the API 600 license adds

API 600 addresses bolted bonnet steel gate valves used in petroleum and natural gas industry applications. For buyers, XHVAL's new license provides a clearly defined API Monogram scope for this product category under certificate number 600-0486.

When preparing an enquiry, buyers should still state the required valve size, pressure class, end connection, body and trim materials, pressure-temperature basis, testing, inspection, documentation and project-specific supplements. The license scope does not replace an order-specific technical review.

How API 600 and API 6D scopes differ

The two licenses serve related but distinct purchasing needs:

  • API 600 / 600-0486: bolted bonnet steel gate valves within the stated license scope.
  • API 6D / 6D-2185: ball, check, gate and plug valves within the stated pipeline and piping valve license scope.

Buyers should identify the governing product specification in the requisition rather than treating API 600 and API 6D as interchangeable labels. A gate valve enquiry, for example, should establish the service, pipeline or plant context, applicable design basis and required documentation before the correct license scope is selected.

Practical buyer verification

Before placing an order, purchasers can:

  1. Search the API Composite List using the company name or certificate number.
  2. Confirm that the facility, license number, status and product scope match the quotation.
  3. Freeze the applicable API specification edition and project supplements in the purchase order.
  4. Confirm whether the ordered product is within the licensed scope and whether the API Monogram is required on the product.
  5. Review drawings, material records, inspection plans and certificates against the final approved configuration.

The API Composite List is API's real-time directory for current license and registration status. Certificate images are useful records, but buyers should use the live directory for the latest status before making a procurement decision.

A quality milestone with a defined scope

The addition of API 600 license 600-0486 expands XHVAL's documented Monogram authorization for bolted bonnet steel gate valves, while API 6D license 6D-2185 continues to cover the stated ball, check, gate and plug valve categories.

For XHVAL, the two licenses support a more transparent conversation with EPCs, distributors and end users: identify the applicable standard first, then align the product configuration, manufacturing controls, inspection and document package with the actual project requirement.

Important scope note

API Monogram authorization is governed by the license agreement, the applicable API program requirements and the stated product scope. This announcement does not mean that every XHVAL product, configuration or order automatically carries the API Monogram. Buyers should verify the current API Composite List entry and confirm order-specific marking and documentation requirements with XHVAL before purchase.
